Duong and his parents live in a small chamber in their paternal grandmother’s home in Ba Vi, 2 hours away from Ha Noi. His father has been handicapped since childhood and getting through daily life is a struggle. His mother has just gone through a time of extreme hardship. The well-being of his family is a heavy burden on the shoulders of an eighth-grade student. The four family members depend on one acre of farmland and one cow, that Duong tends to daily, for food. Duong has been an advanced student every academic year.
BLV team visited Duong’s family and awarded the first part of the scholarship package to his family in March 2017. This first amount is used to support the family in starting an income-generating model.
